Description

We are expecting our first baby girl in February. When we found out we are expecting, we did not know which room to "house" the baby. Whether converting the office to nursery, or keeping the office and retrofitting the guest room into nursery/guest room. We decided on converting the office. We want her to have a room of her own where she can grow into.

Child's Name: Mila

Child's Age: 0

Location: San Ramon, CA

Design inspiration:
I'm always inspired by nature. I would like the nursery to have as much as nature elements such as birds, leaves, and flowers incorporated either in the forms of decal, artwork or textiles. We also would like the room to be as gender neutral as possible. A room that our baby can also grow into a toddler without making many decor changes.
Decorating style:
Modern with a touch of whimsy.
Project details:
I use my own textile collection for the bed skirt, bumper, glider and changing pad cover. I also re-upholstered a hand-me down glider and give it a fresh coat of paint. Both crib and changing tables are from Dwell Studio for Target. The pendant is from Lamps Plus. The artworks are from the lovely etsy seller, Umbrella Prints. The decals are from etsy seller, ShaNickers. Wall shelves are from West Elm. The mobile is from Carter’s. All textiles are from Swanky Swell.
Favorite items:
The glider! Our best friend pass it down to us. Before restoring it, the wood frame was pine and the fabric was outdated. With a fresh coat of paint and reupholstering the cushions, the glider looks fresh and brand new!

Advice:
Yes. Start with a neutral background as a canvas to start your design. Pick an item or two as your inspiration either in color or theme and develop around it. Never overlook an old item. They can be restored to look just as new.

That is the best looking glider I've seen in a long time! I just love the contemporary, clean feel of the room. Nice job!!

The orange & blue elements look great together.  My favorite color combo.  The lighting provides a nice balance and makes a great statement.  Clean & simply!!!  Love it.

I love the freshness of this baby's room. I like how you used and combined red, white and blue into the room.

The wall decals are very cute. And I like how you decorated your girl's room without making it look overly girly.
